PROGRAM
This topic will cover prevalent issues that employers are facing. The presenter, James F. Rumm, Esq. will provide insight on the range of topics and questions coming from EAC members throughout the State to his firm, who manages the Statewide EAC hotline. The presentation will focus on common and some uncommon issues that have to come to light from assisting EAC members.

The Key Learning Objectives:

  • Dealing with obligations for accommodation to disabled employees.
  • Obligations to employee after they give their two week notice.
  • What to do when you receive a demand for payroll records or a workers compensation subpoena.
  • Navigating the ever tricky meal and rest break obligations and how to best protect against employee claims.

PRESENTER
James F. Rumm, Esq. is a founding Partner of Kennedy McCarthy & Rumm, LLP and has spent most of his 20+ year legal career defending and advising employers. His practice is dedicated to representing employers and business owners exclusively, including the defense of wage and hour class actions, Private Attorney Generals Act (PAGA) claims, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and retaliation claims, and other complex employment litigation. James has successfully argued before the California Court of Appeal and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

James was admitted to the California State Bar in 2003. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1998, and his juris doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2002.

James is a frequent speaker and member of many legal organizations including the Orange County Bar Association and the Robert A. Banyard American Inn of Court. James is a proud husband of a marathoner and spends his free time at the field or poolside watching his daughter’s water polo matches and cheering his son on in club soccer.
